Saving Grace Mad World Book 2 edition by Christine Zolendz Paranormal Romance eBooks

When I saw that the sequel to Fall From Grace (Mad World) was out, I one clicked it, and stopped reading what I had been reading. I loved Fall from Grace due the sarcastic humour, witty banter and intense chemistry between Grace and Shane, I just had to know where the author would next take them. Initially I was quite disappointed in Saving Grace. The first 15% of the book was very heavy, with a lot of Grace moaning and cutting herself of from everything, due to events I don't want to spoil for you. Yes, it was totally understandable why she was like this, but I did not like Grace at all like that. To be honest if I had just read the free sample I don't think I would have brought the book, and that would have been a mistake, because I ended up loving this book. Once you get past the first part the rest of the book is just what you expect. Grace is once again witty, sarcastic, and forth right. Shane is well ... Shane. And their chemistry, if you thought it was hot and intense in Fall From Grace, than you may need to read this book in a cold shower (are kindles water proof?).

Saving Grace is about whether or not Grace and Shane can manager to actually get their act together. It is a great read finding out if they do, with MANY bumps and misunderstandings along the way. Interestingly I can understand why someone would not like Saving Grace, due to the first part, and then due to the bumps and misunderstandings. Honestly, Shane and Grace both make stupid decisions, and they both make stupid assumptions, not just once or twice but ALOT. Lets just say it is a long time before we get what we want. This can often annoy me, but not in this book, I just went along for the ride, and loved it. I think it just goes to show you how brilliantly written the chemistry is that all these things did not annoy me.

Oh and one of my favourite things, this book has an ending, no cliff hangers. Thank you thank you thank you Ms Zolendz for this. I can't wait to read your next book, whatever that may be about.
Will I read it again? OH YES
Would I recommend it? OH YES

Saving Grace Mad World Book 2 edition by Christine Zolendz Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

Review

I had read the first book of the story a while ago, so to get closure I took on the second and last. I quite liked the first book because of the strong heroine and fantasy elements, plus the wait and anticipation for the main couple to finally do the dirty (which they didn’t) got to a burning point in the first. I mean, how could two characters so sexy, sensual and horny not get between the sheets? Well, that and more burning questions were answered in the sequel.

The first book ended at quite a tense cliffhanger and I was expecting things to really get down right at the beginning of the second, but while slightly exciting and promising, instead of the anticipation going up, it kind of went down because nothing really happened and there was a lot of stalling and confusion. And, unfortunately, the pace didn’t pick up till the end was pretty close. The main reason being, that Grace and Shane took too many steps back in their relationship and it seemed they started from scratch. There was a lot of lack of communication or explaining between them which deepened the unnecessary hurt and misunderstandings. It got old quite soon.

On a more positive note, Grace was still a smart mouth badass tough girl with a soft center and I really liked her independent and sassy personality. She and Shane, when they were given more intimate scenes together, lit the pages on fire and were quite emotional, but hot and sexy. I would have preferred them just be sexy and silent in each other company than the constant jealousy and misunderstandings basically each time they met.

The merry band of misfits aka the friends of the main couple were also entertaining and a great addition. There were so many guys that I got them confused many time, but they were fun guys who made the atmosphere more lively and full of testosterone and one can never complain about there being too many hot guys!

I liked the idea of the villain (even though I couldn’t fully understand why he was so fixated on Grace- yes, she’s a cool girl, but there had to be more) and the whole fantasy plot elements and the roles of Grace and Shane in it, also, the ending was quite lovely, but overall, the potential wasn’t really met or used to the max. There were redeeming qualities, but a lot didn’t simply make sense or wasn’t cohesive.

Characters

Grace – I really appreciated her attitude and the tough shell she had created for herself to deal with all the pain. She really gave out the image of a confident and sexy woman, about whose soft center not many people were aware of. I continued to generally like her in this book, but her confusion, hesitation and self-pity wasn’t something I enjoyed that much. Nevertheless, she is definitely one of the most memorable aspects of the short series.

Shane – He was certainly sexy and a lady’s man, but compared to the first book I was slightly disappointed that he had lost some of his confidence in regards to Grace. Yes, I understood his motive to act as he did, but I kind of expected him to suit up and go all-out battle mode for the woman he loves. I still kind of liked him though and I guess, all in all, he was a swoony and sweet in his own way hero.

It has to be mentioned in a separate paragraph Lea was a great friend.

Overall

This second and last part was a somewhat of a disappointment. The good stuff was still there, but so was the bad and the positive aspects didn’t really develop any further to compensate for the bad. I still more or less liked the series and am glad I decided to take this up.
